Yule Magic Blog Party

NEWS FLASH - The next phase of The Little Jay Way has begun. I spoke with my lovely mentor/teacher Sally Walker last Thursday morning and felt as though I have known her always. I am delighted to have the fantastic opportunity to learn and grow with Sally as the new Village Witch Apprentice. I am so excited about this and feel that this has been calling me for quite some time now. Since making the decision to commit to this path and feeling my way a long my intuition has been showing me what questions to ask. The universe has shown me where I should be paying the most attention. My first real blog article will be about; What it means to be a witch to me and how I may or may not be accepted into the local community/village.

Please watch this space as I get under way with my new adventures I will be recording every step of my journey here on this blog and sharing them on my Facebook profile http://facebook.com/jmbundy1 as I learn the way of The Village Witch. Your help, support and feed back is very much appreciated. As I get organised and familiar with regularly blogging please join in the fun and celebrations.

Activities: The Yule Magic Blog Party. For more information go to www.thewillagewitch.co.uk. See you there. With many blessings.

A fine balance

His arms wrap around their lives,
strong, protective, sure.
He throws them high into the air
beyond even their own expectations.

He listens with his heart
to more than just the words.
Believing in their inner strength
when they feel lost or torn.

He’s really quite the magician,
turning meltdowns to shrieks of laughter.
Letting go of past behaviours
to focus fully on the now.

He teaches by example,
gently guiding, waiting, trusting.
No repeated long winded-lectures,
just nodding, knowing and being.

He holds each moment loosely
so that every dream can grow.
Stepping back and to the side,
yet somehow remaining center.

My children are indeed lucky,
more whole because of him.
And our family’s truly complete
with all the balance that he brings.

"This is your life. Do what you love, and do it often. If you don’t like something, change it. If you don’t like your job, quit. If you don’t have enough time, stop watching TV. If you are looking for the love of your life, stop; they will be waiting for you when you start doing things you love. Stop over analyzing, all emotions are beautiful. Life is simple. When you eat, appreciate every last bite. Open your mind, arms, and heart to new things and people, we are united in our differences. Ask the next person you see what their passion is, and share your inspiring dream with them. Travel often; getting lost will help you find yourself. Some opportunities only come once, seize them. Life is about the people you meet, and the things you create with them so go out and start creating. Live your dreams and wear your passion. Life is short!"

All our relations - Earth Pathways Diary Article

In memory of Muriel Ward and Una Bundy

I was very inspired when I saw my teacher thumbing through her copy of the Earth Pathways Diary 2011. It looked like an expensive gleaming jewel enticing me to look inside. To anyone who was the slightest bit arty, creative or perhaps someone with just a mere whiff of earth connection would be immediately captivated by its pages. I managed to catch a glimpse of the title and web address and from that point I was smitten!

I heard that someone somewhere had found the last ever copy of the Earth Pathways Diary for 2011. It was being auctioned and I wanted it. So I put in a bid. Of course I wanted to look inside and feast on the art work and words that adorned its pages. I also saw this as an opportunity to support a fantastic charity in memory of my grandmother Muriel Ward. Muriel passed away in November 2010 very sadly with dementia. She was 94 years old.

My grandmothers were like chalk and cheese, ying and yang. Una, or Granty, was my Dad’s mother, the granny that everyone would like. She was warm, cuddly, caring, she told us stories and saw us regularly. Muriel was my Mum’s mother who was the exact opposite. She was strict, scary, wooden and cold. Apparently she was not the most loving and nurturing mother either. She didn’t enjoy seeing us and we grew up knowing her favourite catch phrase, “Children should be seen and not heard!” However we were blessed with seeing both sets of grandparents. As we developed and flourished we built the relationships we needed with each of them.

On my own journey of self discovery I am beginning to understand that we choose our parents for a reason before we are conceived and then once born into this world we suffer spiritual amnesia and forget! There are things that we know we need to learn from our mothers and fathers and of course grandparents. As we learn and grown we learn exactly what we need from our close and not so close family members.

I decided that I wanted to celebrate Muriel’s stern, vigorous and healthy life before she was diagnosed with dementia. She and my grandfather took pride in their garden and allotment which we used to visit while growing up. To be honest the happiest time we had were probably at Christmas doing little gymnastic displays in their lounge or in the garden playing croquet in the summer. So I wanted to place my winning bid as a donation to the Earth Pathways Diary as it is a fantastic celebration of creative life inspiring the earthy enterprise of nurturing and loving new life with the Seed Fund.

Every quarter I meet up with a Women’s Group. We are ladies of all ages from 8 to 60 who celebrate the beauty of the feminine and Grandmother Moon. In January we were invited to think about ‘Walking Grandmother’s Path’ and what that means to us. We all took it in turn telling stories and recalled memories of our grandmothers and mothers. We spoke about what they gave us, through example and through personal experiences with them. Here are a couple of story by my mum, Barbara, Muriel’s daughter. She is telling these story to my son Sam, aged 10, for his home work project.

IMPERFECT STORM

Once a week your great aunts, Dee and Rosie, and I had a bath! Yes, only once a week. I don't remember how old we were, perhaps about 6 and 8. We used to play with plastic cups and model boats and make harbours and waterfalls with our legs. It was fun.
And then one evening we decided to start a storm for the model boats, sliding together up and down in the bath, creating first little waves and then bigger waves and finally tsunami waves. The boats were tossing about. Some were sinking. Some were even disappearing over the side of the bath.
We were laughing so much, we didn't notice the sudden arrival of your Great Grandma with a face like thunder. She was very, very angry. Water from our storm had been sloshing over the top of the bath and gradually dripping down into the kitchen below. What a mess! We were all slapped and sent to bed without any supper. The next day we saw a big wet mark on the ceiling in the kitchen.

HOW NOT TO RIDE A BIKE

Behind our house in Sutton Common Road was a park, where I used to play when I was your age. Sometimes I would meet friends near the bowling green to race our bikes. The path to the bowling green was up a steep slope and ideal as a track to race down.
One afternoon during the summer holidays we were racing our bikes and I swapped mine with a friend. What a fool I was! Three or four of us lined up at the start and, when someone shouted Go!, off we raced. But I had problems. The saddle was too high! And the pedals were too far away! And the path was too steep! And the bike had a life of its own!

Faster and faster I went, trying desperately to steer. I was soon in the lead but couldn't stop. At the end of the path was a wire fence and the car park. I was in big trouble. The only solution was to dive into the bushes at the side of the path.

The bike won the race, but I disappeared! Eventually, I crawled out covered in leaves, thorns, bruises and blood dripping from both knees. Great Grandma was very, very angry yet again!

Through the stories of our Women’s Group emerged a pattern that perhaps is common with all women - that we have within us a deep well of strength and perseverance that sees us through all hardship and difficulties.

My name is Jess Bundy. I’m a funny Mummy and busy professional working Mum. I am studying Cross Cultural and Rainbow Shamanism and am proud to be a Munay-ki graduate and Steward of the Earth. Along my personal healing journey I recognise that whether we like our relations or not we are related to all things. I would like to remember all our relations in these turbulent and shifting times by saying this prayer:
Mitakuye Oyasin (All our relations)
I honor you in this circle of life with me today.
I am grateful for this opportunity to acknowledge you in this prayer....
To the Creator, for the ultimate gift of life, I thank you.
To the mineral nation that has built and maintained my bones and all foundations of life experience, I thank you.
To the plant nation that sustains my organs and body and gives me healing herbs for sickness, I thank you.
To the animal nation that feeds me from your own flesh and offers your loyal companionship in this walk of life, I thank you.
To the human nation that shares my path as a soul upon the sacred wheel of Earthly life, I thank you.
To the Spirit nation that guides me invisibly through the ups and downs of life and for carrying the torch of light through the Ages, I thank you.
To the Four Winds of Change and Growth, I thank you.
You are all my relations, my relatives, without whom I would not live.
We are in the circle of life together, co-existing, co-dependent, co-creating our destiny.
One, not more important than the other.
One nation evolving from the other and yet each dependent upon the one above and the one below.
All of us a part of the Great Mystery.
Thank you for this Life.

Power Animal - North American Blue Jay

The Blue Jay wears the many colours of Father Sky.  Although, Blue Jay is native to most of North America, one may go years without seeing Blue Jay, almost the way we see old friends from time to time.  Even though we do not talk every week, we have no doubt that should we need them, they will always answer our call. So, if you are starting to see Blue Jay, he is answering your call.
You may say, "I have not called on Blue Jay".  However, you may have asked God or Great Spirit to show you what is next in your life, what is holding you back, or what your next step is.  Blue Jay wears the colour blue and the little blue crest (cap) as part of his messenger duties from Great Spirit.  Blue Jays do not have naturally blue feathers.  Rather, their blue colouring is from light refraction on their feathers.  When Blue Jay feathers are removed from the bird, they turn darkish as the light refraction no longer works.
Our Ancestors have passed down stories that say this colouring was a gift from the Gods because of the impossible tasks Blue Jay was given to do.  One of the traits associated with Blue Jay is the "Trickster" aspect of his behaviour.  Blue Jay steals - eggs and other things - destroys nests or other things, plays jokes and shape shifts.  All of these characteristics have caused the other birds and animals to shun Blue Jay.  Many humans shun him because of his harsh, noisy call, and his habit of making a mess of bird food or other things.  Yet, by these actions, Blue Jay plays an important role in teaching everyone to take better care of what they have, to value home and family, to be discerning about what they believe, and to keep their sense of humour.
Blue Jay comes to you as a teacher.  He uses noise to distract.  Are you easily distracted by noise or commotion?  Now is the time to work at being more disciplined.  He shows you how easy it is to take away another's power.  Yet, shunned and mostly alone, Blue Jay walks his talk (integrity) and stands in his power.  Blue is the colour associated with the throat chakra - the chakra of truth.  Regardless of how one views Blue Jay's voice, he teaches us that when we have something to say, it does not matter how harsh it sounds if it is the truth.  Being able to stand alone and say what needs to be said is Blue Jay's lesson in leadership.

Blue Jay comes to tell you that it is time to step into your truth, and find the resources within to acknowledge that people (governments, corporations, family, employers) have been taking advantage of you - whittling away at your nest (income and home) and that now is the time to make changes.  Just as Blue Jay shifts shape from bird to human, he tells you that you may shift to be anyone you wish to be.  The power is within you.  Blue Jay recognizes talent, and he says that you, too, have talent.  Recognize that it needs nurturing and developing, and that along with Blue Jay as a teacher, you will need to find other teachers of strength and integrity to help you cultivate the innate skills that are within you.
If Blue Jay is working with you, now is a good time to remember how connected everything is.  Blue Jay represents the blue of the skies and the oceans and the point on the horizon where they become one.  Just as the wave cannot exist on its own, Blue Jay's feathers do not exist without the nurturing life support of Jay's body.  He reminds you that your light cannot shine without nurturing the body and the soul, and that now is a good time to get started on your journey to live harmoniously with the Earth.
May you have nothing but blue skies!

Who's Little Jay?

My parents called me Little Jay Jay and from a young age I was mesmerized by Native American Indians, Nature, Animals, Art and Music. I was very artistic, independent and very proud to be different. I grew up in the heart of Hampshire Countryside and became a dedicate horsewoman in my teens. I spent every spare second outside with nature. As a young adult I studied at Sparsholt Agricultural College and then flew the nest in search of real life outside of the village in the big wide world. I lived outside of the box for many years and was a part of the 90’s Dance Culture. I love to dance and music affects me on a cellular level.

My whole outlook on life changed when my husband and I created our very own Millennium Crystal child. After a nasty experience in the darkness with Postnatal Depression 2002 - 2004 I healed myself with a book by Louise L Hay called You Can Heal Yourself. In 2005 I went back to work and didn’t look back. I had forgotten who I was really meant to be. I was beginning to awaken from the illusion of what we think is reality.
I started to read everything in site which was strange considering that I wasn’t a strong reader. I started riding again and with the internet at my finger tips and a fair few self help and spiritual books later I eventually found my inner child again. I started tracking synchronicity in my every day world and began to see the beauty in myself and the world around me. The medicine of a Blue Jay power animals spoke to me and guided me to a Shaman through a bizarre set of circumstances. I connected with her and received some Light Body Healing. She is now a great friend and teacher.
Since then I have met some amazing people and my life has changed in a fascinating way. I am now learning and experiencing all about the old ways that should have been past down through the generations of tribes, families and traditions. I am very proud to be a Steward of The Earth and Munay-ki Rites Graduate exploring and discovering myself in my beautiful native country. We are who we have been waiting for!
